Update from Muay
Lessons in Patience: Muay’s Journey into Early Childhood Education
Scholarship Update: June–December 2025
Muay continues to thrive in her first year of university, embracing the challenges and rewards of her early childhood education programme. With weekly teaching observations at Ban Sala School and coursework that blends theory with classroom practice, she is steadily building confidence and skills essential for her goal of becoming a government school teacher in her home community.
Over the past semester, Muay has grown more self-assured, taking the lead in class presentations, preparing teaching activities, and joining English-speaking events despite her shyness. She successfully completed all exams and assignments, with some results exceeding her expectations. Though English remains her most difficult subject, she is actively working to improve through classroom participation and peer support.
Muay also continues to support her family and community, volunteering at temples and helping with farm work during breaks. She balances academic life with healthy routines like cooking, exercising, and reviewing lessons in her free time. A recent milestone was supporting PCF’s Christmas Family Event, her first time joining a public-facing PCF activity, which she described as both fun and eye-opening.
Her current focus includes writing lesson plans and completing final coursework, while preparing to return home for the New Year holiday. Despite early morning commutes for school observation, language anxieties, and workload stress, Muay remains cheerful and driven, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and support she receives.
