Teaching with Heart: Mol’s Journey Through Challenge, Care, and Growth
Mol has shown resilience, compassion, and dedication as she progresses through her final year in the Faculty of Education. After successfully completing her first teaching practicum, she began a new placement at Ban Kad How School, where she now teaches younger primary students, including children with ADHD and special learning needs. While the shift has been emotionally and physically demanding, Mol has adapted with patience and determination.
Her current responsibilities include teaching Mathematics, Science, and Computing to Grades 2–4, as well as managing a homeroom class of 30 students. She regularly consults with her mentor teacher, who has been consistently supportive, and she’s begun drafting her classroom research thesis. Though she sometimes feels burnt out, Mol remains committed and has found strength in the appreciation expressed by students and their parents.
Mol has also developed stronger emotional regulation, often using calming strategies like counting or taking short mental breaks when challenges arise. Despite limited resources, she continues to learn innovative teaching techniques, build strong rapport with students, and reflect deeply on her role as an educator.
Outside the classroom, Mol takes joy in small moments, like receiving bamboo shoots and papayas from grateful parents, enjoying ice cream as a stress reliever, and painting keychains in school clubs. Her journey is not without its hurdles, but she approaches each with sincerity, humour, and the belief that teaching is both a skill and a calling.
